Once in a lifetime experience with Yohetta Wilderness Adventure

I just wanted to get back to you and report that we had a fantastic time at and around Yohetta. Tom & Alice were great and the best guides and company we could have asked for. We even liked so much so that we hope to come back next year, perhaps we can even make ourselves useful and help out cleaning trails etc. We do not mind hard work as long as we are in nature and with horses :-) I attach some pictures from our days.

A life changing experience for sure! 5 days up and down the mountains on the most sure footed horses I have ever seen or ridden. The training and selection that goes into putting a group of animals like that together just boggles the mind. We were in the wild, mountains away from the nearest help, our lives dependant on these creatures, and they did not disappoint. They hauled us and our loads with ease up and down 3 mountain ranges. The views and sights are hard to describe in words. It would take only the most experienced author to be able to truly capture those moments in words. The sites selected for camping were equally beautiful….with breathtaking meadows completely carpeted in indigenous wild flowers and crystal clear glacier lakes to swim in. Hikes at sunrise, for those of us so inclined, lead to further incredible vistas. It was like something out of National Geographic. And so was the float plane flight from Sproat Lake to Yohetta. Over islands, mountains and glaciers, absolutely breathtaking and so close you could touch them. Staff were organized and made everything so easy. Even though we were sleeping “rough” our guide was so organized that setting up and taking down camp was effortless. The food was DELICIOUS (a true feat considering we were packing for 5 days!) and there is just nothing better than sitting around the camp fire after a long day in the saddle. Thank you Hermann and Tom for the experience of a lifetime!

"The scenery in this region is magnificent and second to none, with spectacular lakes, river valleys, mountain peaks, glaciers and alpine areas unfolding in every direction. Seeing a wide range of wildlife in their natural habitat only adds to this amazing adventure. If you have ever wanted to enjoy a true alpine wilderness experience by horseback, in the company of excellent guide/outfitters, I highly recommend that you start here. My daughter Sharon and i were blessed to be able to do this in August of 2007 and it truly was an awesome 'once in a lifetime' experience that neither of us will ever forget."

“Yohetta! The jewel of the Chilcotin with the perfect match where the Chilcotin plateau meet the spectacular coastal mountain range with glaciers, mountain streams, rivers. lakes of all colours and surprises around every corner!"

"As you leave Nemaiah Valley, you head over a mountain of untouched timber.  You will see rock slides and the Taseko River as it leaves Taseko Lake with it's pure blue colours.  Leaving Taseko Lake you start down the Gunn Valley with the vivid greens of the grasslands near Lostman Lake. Following the creek you drive to pristine Tuzcha Lake and the Yohetta Lodge and Wilderness Camp.  Once you reach the cabins nestled in the trees, you feel such peace.  Sitting on the covered deck of the lodge, you can see the lakes and mountains surrounding you. What a joy to watch the the osprey fishing and to hear the lonesome sound of the loon calling.  Hiking up Buck Mountain, you look down Yohetta valley for miles and miles in both directions.  When you reach the top of the mountain there is a huge plateau with three lakes.  On the journey you may spot mule deer, moose, black bears, grizzlies and eagles.  Yohetta Lodge and Wilderness Camp-unspoiled nature!"

"I visited Yohetta Lodge in August of 2014 for a serene and refreshing holiday in the Chilcotin wilderness. The camp area is treed and has pleasant pathways leading from the main lodge to individual cabins and then to the horse corrals. The cabins are situated along the lake side and are each provided with a small private deck. I found this lovely place to sit and read or to view sunrise and sunsets. The main lodge has a comfortable lounge area though I spent most afternoons enjoying it's large coverted deck. This provided a place to socialize and to get an overview of the scenery for photography. I swam fromt he camp dock in the afternons and relaxed with a book for numerous hours. A canoe was available to explore further down the lake or go across to a large swimming beach. The lack of city noises made the chirp of birds and the occasional distant howling of wolves very special. A wonderful holiday spot."
